Jessica's Extra Special Wedding Gown
My bride Jess is the daughter of one of my besties from School. Not only that, but Jess’s dad was also in our class at school. Not only that, but Jess, and her betrothed attended the same school!
So this gown was extra special for many many reasons.
When Jess told her mum that she wanted a corsetted element to her wedding gown, Kate knew just what to do! Call me!
Jess supplied me with her inspo images, and I got to work on the first toile. They travelled all the way down from Scotland to have the fitting and it was really lovely to catch up with Kate and meet her gorgeous daughter.
The fittings went extremely well and Jess was delighted that her exact vision was created just how she had imagined.
She had already purchased some fabric that she had fallen in love with, so we used that - a deliciously buttery silk crepe in a beautiful off white shade.
Simplicity was the name of the game here, so we created a very plain overbust corset, with a ‘flowing trumpet’ skirt which had a ruche over the tummy and a long oval train to complement her cathedral veil. She also had detachable sleeves for the church ceremony.
It was an absolute joy to work with Jess and my old friend Kate on this commission, and catch up with life in north of the border.
Jess and Bruce were married in Perth, Scotland, in the shadow of our school, in August. I think you’ll agree that they look absolutely stunning!
