MASTER CORSETIÈRE
For nearly 20 years, Julia Bremble has built a strong reputation as a master corsetière, technician, educator, and bespoke corset designer based in Oxfordshire, UK.
Combining her French heritage with English sensibilities shaped by the alternative subcultures of Edinburgh, London, and Oxford, Julia creates bespoke corsets rooted in the Dark Feminine aesthetic. Her work draws inspiration from the theatrical elegance of Torture Garden, McQueen, and Gaultier, alongside the timeless glamour of Givenchy, Dior, and Chanel.
Originally trained in fashion pattern cutting, Julia applies a deep understanding of anthropometrics and body architecture to create exceptionally well-fitting, elegant, and comfortable modern corsets for all genders. Each bespoke corset is individually designed and handcrafted to combine technical precision with couture artistry.
“My focus when working with clients is not only that they feel comfortable expressing their wishes, but that they feel confident, comfortable, and joyful when wearing their finished bespoke corset or ensemble. Consultations at the atelier are always collaborative, inspiring, and filled with ideas, creativity, and laughter.
I believe that bespoke corsetry is a true collaboration between client and corsetière — a creative process that brings a unique and deeply personal vision to life.
By blending technical skill and intuition with an understanding of complex curves, fit, and body dynamics, I create bespoke corsets that are elegant, comfortable, and beautifully engineered. Every custom corset commission is approached as a true labour of love, combining couture craftsmanship with individuality and artistry.”
In 2012, Julia authored the bestselling book Corset Making: From Beginner to Intermediate, which has since become a standard reference work within the world of modern corsetry.
In 2010, she founded the Oxford School of Corsetry, through which she has taught corset making and bespoke corsetry techniques to students from around the world, both in person and online. This educational work continues today through her online Patreon community.
Julia is also the founder and organiser of The Oxford Conference of Corsetry, which ran five times between 2013 and 2019. The conference was the first and only event of its kind, bringing together corset makers, costumiers, and corsetry enthusiasts from around the world to network, exchange knowledge, and learn from leading figures within the industry.
In 2015, the conference welcomed the esteemed “King of Corsets”, Mr Pearl — couture corsetière to the Paris fashion houses and international celebrities.
Through her extensive work as a bespoke corsetière, educator, author, and lecturer, Julia is widely recognised as a leading expert in the field of modern corsetry. Her work has been featured by the BBC as well as in local and national press.
