Terms and Conditions of Sale
Definitions
A custom item is created with colours and finishes selected by the client and/or tailored to the client’s individual measurements. This may also include garments made to standard sizing, where the client has chosen the colours, finishes, or other available design options..
A bespoke item is created entirely to the client’s specifications, with every aspect determined by the client, including the design, colours, embellishments, materials, and sizing.
An ‘off-the-rack’ or ‘ready to wear’ item is a ready-made piece available in a specific size and colour, crafted in the atelier. These may include one-of-a-kind creations, sample pieces, and standard designs produced in colours and finishes selected by the atelier.
Patterns and Intellectual Property
All bespoke and custom corsets and garments are made to the client's measurements and specifications and are unique to the individual commissioning them.
At the commencement of work, a personalised pattern is drafted specifically for the client based on their measurements and any stated fitting requirements, including figure asymmetries, enhanced waist reduction, or other anatomical considerations.
All patterns created by JB Corsets remain the intellectual property of JB Corsets and are not offered for sale or transfer. Client patterns will be retained on file for a period of 12 months from the date of the completed order.
Should a client wish to commission additional garments using an existing pattern within this period, a discount may be applied to reflect the reduced patterning and fitting work required, provided no significant alterations to the original pattern are necessary.
Ordering and Payment Terms
All corsets and garments are made to order. Orders may be placed in one of two ways:
1. Website Orders
Orders may be placed directly through the website using the customisation options available within each product listing. Full payment is required at the time of purchase. Production typically takes approximately 4–6 weeks from the date the order is placed.
Before production begins, JB Corsets will contact each client to confirm the order details and provide an estimated completion and delivery date.
2. Commissioned Orders
For more complex or bespoke projects, a detailed estimate and staged payment schedule will be prepared, reflecting each phase of the design and production process. Once the initial deposit has been received, the estimate will be converted into an active order, the client will be deemed to have accepted the Terms of Sale, and work will commence.
The approved estimate, together with any subsequent written amendments, constitutes the contract between JB Corsets and the client.
Deposits and Payments
All deposits and stage payments are non-refundable once work has commenced on the relevant phase of production.
The final balance may be adjusted to reflect any changes agreed during the production process. Any additions, removals, or amendments to the order will be clearly documented and confirmed by email before the next stage of work begins or upon completion of the relevant phase.
Payment Methods
Payment by bank transfer is preferred. International clients are encouraged to use the Wise payment service, which offers a secure and cost-effective method of transferring funds. Payment by credit or debit card can also be arranged via a secure payment link provided upon request.
Final Payment
The final balance for all corsets and garments is due upon completion of production and must be paid in full before collection or dispatch of the finished garment(s).
Remote Fittings
For remotely fitted garments, the first fitting must be completed within 4 weeks of the client receiving the fitting garment or mock-up. This ensures that production can proceed and be completed within a reasonable timeframe.
If the client is unable to schedule and complete the fitting within this period, JB Corsets reserves the right to cancel the order. In such circumstances, any deposits or payments made to date will be forfeited and are non-refundable.
Payment Plans
JB Corsets is pleased to offer payment plans of up to four instalments following payment of the initial deposit.
All payment plans must be agreed in writing and will include a schedule of payment dates. Instalments must be paid on or before the agreed dates. Reminder notices will be issued as payments fall due.
Production of the garment may commence before the final payment is received; however, the completed corset or garment will not be dispatched or released for collection until the balance has been paid in full.
Failure to adhere to the agreed payment schedule may result in delays to production and delivery. JB Corsets cannot guarantee completion or delivery dates where payments are late or reminders are ignored.
If a period of six months or more elapses between payments, the order will be deemed abandoned. In such circumstances, all payments made to date will be forfeited and are non-refundable.
Cancellations, Refunds and Returns
Orders placed through the website may be cancelled within 7 days of purchase for a full refund. After this 7-day period, orders are no longer eligible for cancellation or refund, although an exchange may be offered at the discretion of JB Corsets.
All custom and bespoke corsets and garments are made to the client's individual specifications and are therefore non-refundable and non-returnable. This includes, but is not limited to, corsets customised for tight-lacing, garments made to personal measurements, and items produced using a client's existing custom pattern.
Ready-to-wear corsets drafted for a female body shape are designed and sized according to female anatomical proportions and may not be suitable for individuals with a male body shape.
It is the client's responsibility to provide accurate sizing, measurement, and fitting information when placing an order. Where material information relevant to fit and sizing is omitted, withheld, or incorrectly supplied, including measurements or other factors that may affect the suitability of the garment, JB Corsets accepts no responsibility for the resulting fit. In such circumstances, any right to return, exchange, or refund may be withdrawn.
Off-the-rack (OTR) and ready-to-wear (RTW) items may be returned within 7 days of receipt, provided they are returned unworn, undamaged, and in a condition suitable for resale. Acceptance of returns and the issuing of refunds remain at the sole discretion of JB Corsets and will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
Shipping
All items are dispatched using a tracked and insured postal or courier service.
Shipping and carriage charges are additional to the cost of the garment and will be added to the final invoice unless otherwise stated.
Any customs duties, import taxes, handling charges, or other fees imposed by the destination country are the sole responsibility of the customer.
Shipping charges are non-refundable, except where required by law.
