About Julia Bremble
Trained in pattern cutting for fashion before specialising in corsetry, over years of study Julia Bremble has applied knowledge of anthropometrics to her work which informs her unique method of corseting the body in order to create well fitting and comfortable modern corsets with modern aesthetics, for the modern body. This results in an exceptional combination of fit, comfort and dramatic silhouette whether your reduction is two inches or ten.
Julia Bremble owned the popular online shop Sew Curvy for 13 years before deciding to focus on clients full time in 2023. She is also Founder and Organiser of The Oxford Conference of Corsetry, a unique and prestigious bi-ennual event which took place from 2013-2019 and brought together corsetry experts and aficionados from around the world to share knowledge and the Founder and Director of Oxford School of Corsetry where she has been teaching the art of corsetry to students from all over the world for nearly 15 years. A published author, she has written what has become a standard reference work on corset making, and has become established and acknowledged as a leading expert and teacher in the field of modern corsetry with her work featured on the BBC in local and national press.
Over the last 15 years, Julia has built a strong reputation as a technician, educator and bespoke designer. Her work is influenced by an alternative vintage aesthetic which draws from the Golden Age of Hollywood, modern sub cultures and avant guarde couture. She has spent many an hour, day, year studying antique corsets in both private and public collections and through study has taken old technology and applied it to modern corsetry.
Julia loves working with clients to realise their dream couture pieces and is dedicated to making the process fun, exciting and enjoyable. Located in her beautiful rural woodland studio, clients are able to visit in person or work remotely via the wonders of modern technology.
Julia has a wide range of clients including off-beat brides and grooms, corset and lingerie aficionados of all genders, tight-lacers, aristocrats, showgirls, drag queens, and celebrities..
